Share your Healing Story!
We want to tell the inspiring story of 6 people or families who come to Grieving In Plain Sight for Empowered Healing.
We will be filming a documentary (not a reality show) on the journey through grief that brings you to the retreat, the journey through healing during the retreat, and how you feel about your life and your future at the end of this Empowered Healing Event. The purpose of this is to show how normal people can open their hearts to healing - and accept and grow from what life has thrown at them, and learn to live with passion and joy in their lives once again.

Here are the rules:
1. You must be registered to attend Grieving In Plain Sight with payment for the event by August 10, 2012
(we can't tell your story if you are not actually attending the event where we film)
2. You will agree to being interviewed and filmed by Grieving In Plain Sight Staff Videographer, and release all rights to the interviews to G.I.P.S. to be used for fundraising and/or future events.
Simple rules, easy enough?
Here is what we are looking for:
A single person, or a couple, or a family who want to share their story of grief. We want to show growth and healing and to give inspiration to others hearing your stories. We want to show others they are not alone in their feelings about loss, and show hope that healing can and does take place. Teens age 13-18 are encouraged to apply as we have a special program planned for teens at the event.
What you get from this experience:
You give your journey a voice, a way to show your friends, family and the world.. about you, in an open conversation where you can just be yourself. You will be helping others on this journey to have hope. You will be given 3 free copies of the video to share with others in your life. You will also get a free T-Shirt from the event (still working on the design).
Categories:
The choice in each category will be made by G.I.P.S. staff based on a written application, and a telephone interview with Sandy Brosam, Event Organizer. Please email us a short version of your loss, and how you have been struggling with your grief. Tell us how you think coming to Grieving In Plain Sight will help you to move forward in your life. Please attach a picture of you and your loved one(s) you lost. This will help us to bring your story to life as you talk about it, for our selection committee. Grief does not discriminate, and neither do we. Anyone is welcome to apply.
To apply:
Email your submission to grievinginplainsight@gmail.com in the subject line please put the category you are entering. We will respond back to all who enter, so you will know we have received your application.

- Pregnancy/Infant Loss - Single or multiple losses, we want to show how grief affects a loss that many never see. It is hard for many people to understand how deeply it affects the parents, share your story and help them understand how real the baby was and how real the pain is.
- Child Loss - How long it has been does not matter, what matters is how your grief is affecting your life. How has it affected your family dynamics? Your job? Your friends? Are you lost in survivor's guilt, or the what if's?
- Loss of Another Family Member - Do you grieve over a spouse, parent, sibling, grandparent, or other close relative? Do you think you are OK, and then burst out in tears at any given moment and get angry with yourself for not being over that part of the grief?
- Loss of Close Friends - Did you lose someone so close to you they finished your sentences? Do you feel like half of you is gone now?
- Battlefield Grief - Do you have survivor's guilt? Do you miss your fellow soldiers and the companionship you shared with them? Or did you lose a soldier on the battlefield?
- Pet Loss - There is an unspoken bond that we share with our animal companion. The unconditional love, companionship, and joy they bring us is priceless. The heartache, loss and emptiness we feel when we lose our animal companion can be devastating. Our companion animals are a much loved member of our family. Some struggle greatly with this loss.
